ABOUT LAUREN

I have always been curious about the world. As a child, I would always read books about exploring new places and learning about other cultures. This curiosity and openness to new experiences were perfectly funneled into exchange students. Being unable to travel on my own as a young child, hosting exchange students gave me a more intimate glance into other countries.I aspire to work in education with an international focus.

My passion is for experiencing the world and increasing cultural awareness through travel. I have a positive, flexible, and creative mindset ready for problem-solving. I hope to continue my learning and international experience in order to thrive in any environment.

Education:

I live in Jacksonville, Florida and attend the University of North Florida. I will graduate in December of 2019 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business. Upon my graduation, I hope to work with international exchange students.

Volunteer Work:

I have done a wide array of mission work domestically and internationally. I have worked with the poor in Chatanooga, Tennessee and in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have volunteered with many food kitchens and food banks in Florida.

I have worked with the Haitian Artisans for Peace International in Mizak, Haiti to do clinical work with the children and elderly, as well as teach children about dental hygiene and various science topics.

I have also worked with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students as a missionary in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. I stayed with the Missionaries of the Poor and helped them care for children and elderly with HIV, AIDS, cerebral palsy, and other mental illnesses.

Other Interests:

I enjoy working with my hands. I am a huge fan of baking homemade sweets, I love to knit, I am learning to play the guitar, and I am an avid reader.
